The Urafiki ("Frienship" in English) Health Centre opened in September 2003 with a staff of eight, including one doctor. The clinic operated 8 hours per day.
Today the clinic has 18 staff (all nationals), including two doctors, nurses and Massai. Massai are local tribespeople, hired to be the clinic's watchmen and security guards. The clinic operates 18 hours per day, 7 days per week, and takes care of 35 patients were day (245 per week). Over 3,500 patients have been registered.
A free eye clinic was held in 2006, with 1,085 patients receiving tests and treatment. Over 500 spectacles were fitted and 67 cataract operations scheduled. The clinic was facilitated by the Mwanza Lions Club with support from the Stouffville Lions Club and staff of the Urafiki Health Centre.
A doctor's house, financed by an anonymous donour and built by SIP in 2006, is also on the property.
