"I went out there terrified of the things that I would see and the life I would lead out there. But our group was so loving and caring always watching out for one another. And the welcome we got when we finally arrived was heart warming and wrenching at the same time. Greeted with such honor and gratitude. I didn't feel deserving at all. I learned very much from our friends in Africa. They became friends quickly and were for the most part quite welcoming to us white folk or "Mzungu" as they called us. The children were amazing as they would hold our hands everywhere and tease us. I felt like a very undeserving king over there but I learned a lot about them and about myself. I am now very passionate about helping, particularly Africa and I realize the importance of helping and sacrificing for our brothers and sisters. I felt like a new man when I got back, although we get sucked back into the western world, when I think about such times, the feeling comes back and I'm warm inside. Can't wait to go back."
