On March 8th, 2013, three people will be flying back to Africa for their second and third time. The purpose of this trip is to monitor programs such as I-CARE by visiting sponsored children and their homes, distributing mosquito nets and gathering more information about getting the rest of Igoma potable water. In Ocotober 2012, SIP’s 8th annual dinner and auction fundraiser was held to fund SIP ongoing work as well as a new water project. Since this fundraiser, the Urafiki Health Clinic has had water tanks installed and they are running successfully providing clean water for the clinic. Part of the purpose of this trip will be to assess whether these water tanks are the best option for Igoma’s landscape and to consider other options. The three members of SIP will return on March 25th with all the reports ready to present at our Annual General Meeting on April 11th, 2013.
A big thanks to Long & McQuade in Markham for supplementing some of the cost for a guitar to donate to a school in Igoma and for all their previous support over the years!
