The Stouffville Igoma Partnership is a humanitarian effort providing opportunities for local residents, service clubs, churches, schools and businesses to participate with a needy developing country in a meaningful way.
Objectives:
Identify areas of interest & support capability within the community
Initiate visible initiatives that would support the long term objectives
Increase the health care capacity of the Igoma Clinic through:
Providing medical equipment and supplies
NEW - Providing Mother Child Infant Care
NEW - Providing basic hygiene instruction
Recruiting professional volunteers
The support for, or the provision of training, for medical assistants
NEW - Sustain a secondary school assistance program, providing funds for at least five new and deserving students to attend per year (up to four years per student). NOTE: The objective in 2008 was 5 students, but through sponsor support we are able to fully support 20 students in the first year.
Increase the number of vocationally trained individuals in Igoma through:
Providing scholarships that include tuition and room & board
Providing equipment needed for vocational training
Vocational training volunteers
Equipment and supplies for vocations and agricultural needs
NEW - Provide computer and basic skills training
Develop relationships
Encourage local primary and secondary schools to donate learning aids (notebooks, pencils, pens, etc.)
Develop pen pal relationships among students
Encourage work team participation for specific projects in Igoma
