The annual costs of running the Urafiki Health Centre, and other projects, is approximately $60,000 CDN per year. The money is raised through fundraising and donations.

SIP is pleased to offer vocational assistance to young adult residents of Igoma. Training, held at the Vocational Education Training Academy (VETA), is offered in variety of trades including masonry, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, motor mechanics, computer literacy and food services. The cost for a two-semester course, including meals, board, uniform, footwear, and tool kit upon graduation is $400 CDN. In 2006, ten SIP scholarships to VETA were awarded.
SIP also offers scholarships to Igomans for medical asssitance training/upgrading for nurses aids, lab technicians and midwives. The costs for the courses vary from $500 - $1000 CDN. In 2006, two such courses were paid for by SIP.
Each scholarship recipient must provide volunteer time for SIP projects as part of their scholarship agreement.
NEW - SIP is initiating a secondary school assistance program, providing funds for deserving students to attend. The program will start with five students in year one. Each year five additional students will be supported. Each student will be supported up to a maximum of four years. The cost to support a secondary student is $400 - $550 CDN per year.

Please be sure to indicate on the form that the funds are to be used for scholarships.

SIP organizes various fundraising events that Stouffville and other residents have participated in, including gala dinners, concerts and barn raising/garage building. Photos of our fundraising ventures can be seen here.

Local schools, students, residents and local businesses have taken initiative to help raise funds for SIP. Fundraising efforts by our friends have included making and selling bracelets, gathering school supplies and collecting money in donation boxes.
