It has been decided, there is a 2015 SIP Trip being planned and if you feel compelled at all to go then you will want to attend the SIP Trip Meeting at the Town Offices (111 Sandiford Drive, Stouffville ON) on Thursday, February 26th at 7pm. This meeting will address work opportunities while visiting Igoma, precautions and preparations, immunizations, medications, costs and potential dates. In attendance will hopefully be a representative from Elephant Thoughts to talk about our partnership and work along side of them at schools. Should this date and time present a conflict for you, we can send you a synopsis of what was discussed and there will be a second meeting in preparation for the trip. Please bring with you something to take notes on and dates in 2015 that would best work for you. Hope to see many faces there as the trip will be something to remember for a lifetime! Should you have questions or concerns, please email Justin, SIP Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 647-444-3513.

On Thursday, December 4th from 7:30 – 10:00pm SIP is hosting its second “Musicians for Igoma – Christmas concert Special“ this year at the Earl of Whitchurch .What better way to begin the holidays but with a good ol’ Christmas concert. The event will feature such great local musicians as the Marion Drexler band, Steve Matthews, Claire Summerhayes with Justin Kerswill, Brian O’Sullivan, and Carys Montgomery with Justin Kerswill, Jenna Gallagher and Jonathan Ison. Each act will play a few of their Christmas favourites and perhaps even a few original pieces. Suggested donation at the door is $10 and all the proceeds will support SIP and our ongoing mission to elevate the quality of life through health care and education for the residents of Igoma. It promises to be a beautiful evening and simply showing up goes a long way to joining hands and creating hope.
On behalf of SIP, I’d like to thank all of the musicians who participated in “Musicians for Igoma” as well as our host, the Earl, on Thursday, August 7th. After a great night of music and over 50 attendees, we were able to raise approximately $1200 and an additional $200 for musicians in Igoma. After the night’s success and the eager participation of musicians, it is clear that this event will be yearly event and we may even have a Christmas concert too!
